I was sitting outside a bar in Murcia last week, staring at this window and it was annoying me because it looked so familiar…now I know where I saw it before…
My favourite shop in Murcia, Spain is Bazar Bizarro. A truly unique place where you can find all kinds of oddities. Perfect for when you are stuck for gift ideas.
Besides having 1000′s horror film posters and rare movies, one corner of the shop is dedicated to showcasing local artist’s work, there is always something new on the walls. They also screen movies now and then on an old 16MM projector. I saw Ol’ Dirty Kung Fu there last Summer. Where else in the world are you going to get to see the classic Infra-Man in Spanish on 16mm?
Bazar Bizarro also holds regular mahjong and card games.
Here are just some of the things I bought there since it opened; a Mexican Wrestler mask, a Mazinger Z figure, Godzilla model set, some wacky underground Spanish comics, old Spanish toys from the 80′s like Airgam Boys, dozens of assorted monster figures and action figures, 5 original movie posters/theater cards.
They are located in Murcia city centre, about a 10 minute walk away from the Cathedral. They also offer a postal service so if you can’t make it to Murcia they can send you your stuff. Check out the Bazar Bizarro Facebook page to see what new items they have.
See here for some of their original movie posters, the majority are in Spanish but they find posters from all over the world.
And here are some of the novelty gifts and action figures they have.
The world needs more shops like this.
This is just wrong. All the Smurfs are the same and have no arms.
I remember in the early 80′s there were lots of these Fisher Price style cash-ins and knock offs.
This is great, the Airgam Boys Space Exploration playset. Airgam was a Spanish company.
All the male astronauts have moustaches and look rather dashing.
The always great Weirdo Toys has an in depth look at Airgam’s odd, plagiaristic Super Hero line that you really should see
I think I can make out ’1976 by Arco’
Great accessories, all huge and chunky and all of which would probably fit into an iPhone these days.

Note that it says ‘watch him walk’…so FiFi is a boy dog?FiFi the remote control begging poodle by Kraemer toys.

Princess the French Poodle by Cragstar.
